Comparative gov't & politics question - what advice would you give?

Economic development, particularly industrialization, has seemingly led to many environmental problems. What advice would you give to a newly industrialized country?Comparative gov't %26amp; politics question - what advice would you give?
Just because you industrialize does not mean consumerism must be adopted. Make accounting mandatory in the schools and tell children they are supposed to concentrate on NET WORTH.

If you buy a $2000 laptop it will be worth $500 in two years. What does the $2000 machine really have that a $500 netbook doesn't besides a BIGGER screen. Is that worth losing $1500 in depreciation for. Notice that our genius economists don't tell the American people what they have lost on the depreciation of automobiles since the Moon landing. Galbraith talked about the planned obsolescence of cars 10 years before that.
