Can you give me some advice... I want to be more self-confident?

I'm a shy person. I always worry about being ';presentable'; in public ... I'm not a vain person at all, it's just that I worry about small things at the wrong times. I get really nervous in big public areas when I'm being stared at for example. I don't have an anxiety attack or anything, I just feel uncomfortable and don't know how to react. Can you give me some advice... I want to be more self-confident?
Take many comfortable friends with you into public and work on it.

You suffer from something similar to what soldiers have. The get anxious in large crowds. (Bad things happen in big crowds)Can you give me some advice... I want to be more self-confident?
Do this simple thing - go to a bar with your friend and let yourself be approachable.

Guys will come up to you and talk, it will make you feel important and will give you confidence. So easy being a girl to feel wanted.
Hey dont panic, this happens to many of us and this is very very common and also believe that you are absolutely normal.

Now, how to become self confident or how to develop the same. The one and only answer that anyone could think of is believe in yourself. Belief in oneself and one's ability is the best way u can bring the best out of urself and once you bring it once, the next time you will be confident to do that again. thats how u develop the same. For example...you believe that you could walk and eventually you did, you believed that you can run and you did now u r confident of walking anytime and running anytime. Have u ever believed urself to run before u could walk, the answer is no. Life is just like that, mother nature has thought us many things and we have learnt many things without know that we have learnt the same. Thats the truth. So dont worry, and keep doing things or keep trying things that u feel comfortable and try it one by one, step by step just like u sit first, stand, walk, run and u come first in 1000 meter race.. A journey towards a mile will start from a single step. Let me take the pleasure of motivating u to get into the first step. Be cool and be happy. Good luck to u
you need to acept that you are what you are, life is short, you might hear that alot but it's true, so my advice is to get on with things, do what you want to do, go where you want to go, and say what you want to say. i know this easy to write, but i believe to be the truth.

however you approach this problem it won't be fixed overnight, but your the best person to help yourself.

i'm sorry if this isn't any help, but good luck.
I used to be really self-conscious and wanted to improve my confidence also. I thought about all the things I didnt like about myself and worked on them. It helps a lot if you focus on improving specific things.

For example, I wanted my teeth to be whiter...so I bought whitestrips and fixed that.

If you change things [for the better] that you know you will feel better about once they're different, it is less to worry about and maybe something to feel good about.

And when you keep working on things and improving, your confidence will grow because you know that you are eliminating the bad and replacing it with good!

About the staring thing..I HATE when anyone stares at me too. Like my friends or parents, strangers or teachers. This is especially a problem when I am in a public area also and I get really uncomfortable.

When little little kids stare at me, I make weird faces at them and they stop or if they keep staring I make mean faces.

When my friends/people I know/adult strangers stare at me, I either look them in the eye and smile in a knowing way or I try to completely ingore them.
