I want them to make me something good, not to high in calories, and easy. Something that can be made simply from the stuff in ShopRite...help? Thanks..!I'm tired of having the same thing for lunch everyday at school. Can you give me advice to give to my parents..
Packing a healthy, yet tasty, lunch can be simple. The hardest part is probably deciding what to bring. I suggest writing down everything you can think of to bring. Include what you normally have and some things you'd like to have. Look towards other meals for ideas....for example, is there something you commonly have for dinner that you think may make a great lunch? Write it down. Then, you can pick and choose what you'd like to bring to lunch for a week and give it to your parents ahead of time. Doing this will give them advanced notice about what you'd like for lunch and will give them time to purchase the food you want. Of course, make sure you ask them about this idea first. Check with them to see what they think is ok. Remember to ask them nicely to go along with your idea! Offering to help pack your lunch in the morning or giving your parents a break from doing it once in a while can help persuade them to mix up what they pack.
Here are a few ideas for what to bring...
Yogurt and granola - I really like Stonyfield ';Cream on Top'; Strawberries %26amp; Cream yogurt with some Kashi Go-Lean Crunch cereal on the side.
Lunch Wraps - Instead of packing a sandwhich on bread, try making it into a wrap. Fill any kind of tortilla with your favorite lunch meats and maybe a little bit of deli mustard or something like that. You can then roll up the tortilla and slice it into smaller pieces if you want.
Salad - This is great especially if you have some leftovers from dinner. You can throw some leftover chicken together with a little bit of romaine lettuce, and maybe some cucumbers and carrots. It's really whatever you like and have on hand.
Vegetables %26amp; Dip - Wash and cut vegetables into managable pieces the night before, and then take them to school in a zip-lock bag. You can bring your favorite kind of salad dressing in any small Tupperware container to dip.
Fruit - wash it at home, bring it whole or cut up. Grapes are delicious and easy because they require no peeling or cutting. Also try apples, berries, etc.
Try a bagel with any kind of topping from cream cheese to a little bit of butter or your favorite jam.
For snacks, you could again use small Tupperware containers to package homemade snacks or ones bought in large quantities. You can also find almost anything pre-packaged in individual servings these days though, especially at Shop Rite. Here are some ideas...
-apple sauce
-trail mix
-low fat popcorn
-pretzels
-cinnamon swirl bagels/toast
-granola bar
Thermoses open up a bunch of new possibilities for lunch. You can keep anything from soup to pasta warm. Your cafeteria should have plastic utensils, too, so you can probably just grab a fork or spoon there. Of course, you have to bring the thermos home, so it's only good if you don't mind not being able to throw everything out when you're done eating.
Hope I helped :)I'm tired of having the same thing for lunch everyday at school. Can you give me advice to give to my parents..
How about you start making your own lunch instead? If they have a ';thing'; about that, let them know how mature and insightful you are by talking about the basic food groups and some of the choices you'd make if you were doing it yourself. For example: orange juice, cheese stix, open faced pizza on an English muffin, yogurt etc.
well i am in high school and i like to take red baron pizzas, wraps with chicken or event the pre-made sushi although i still do not make my lunches my mom lets me tell her what i want and then she buys it! (also good peanut butter marshmallow fluff and bananas!)
You should prepare your own lunch.do some research
about foods that aren't really high in calories, but foods
that you'd like to eat.not some nasty healthy food that
you don't like.it should be tasty healthy food.if you have
nasty food, then you might as well end up back with
your parent's food.
if you have access to a microwave at school, take leftovers (hamburger helper, chicken) from dinner the previous night
if not, throw together a ham/turkey/chicken sandwich together. make a salad with chicken, pasta or pasta salad
Ask them for a different lunch or make your own lunch. also buy food from school.trade food from other kids.
Try reduced fat chicken or turkey..hey let's face it..birds are lighter than Cows and pigs.If you don't want cold cuts there
is always Chicken Salad
On the fish side you can try out some Tuna (with Miracle Whip)
any of this with low fat chsses should hit the spot without
breaking the scale
you could let them know that you appreciate the lunches that they have been making you but you would like to try somethink different, ask them if they could buy you something that you want to eat and that you will make your own lunches.
